It’s Time to Summerize: 4 Tips for Getting your Car Summer-Ready
When the seasons change, the weather changes, and when the weather changes there is certain maintenance that you need to perform on your vehicle to ensure it continues to run smoothly. This maintenance is commonly known as “Summerizing” your vehicle. Below are 4 tips we recommend for properly Summerizing your car.
- Air Conditioning – You definitely want to make sure your A/C unit is functioning properly before the weather gets too hot. Be sure to schedule an appointment with your dealership or local mechanic to inspect the unit and replenish the refrigerant if necessary.
- Cooling System – Overheating is one of the most common causes of breakdowns in the summer. If your coolant needs to be replaced, be sure to replace it with manufacturer-approved coolant fluid.
- Brakes – Summer brings about many types of random weather patterns, especially thunder or even hail storms (learn more about hail damage repair). Protect yourself against the elements by making sure your brakes are functioning properly and that your brake pads are not worn down.
- Tires – Everyone enjoys a good summer road trip, but before you hit the road be sure to inspect your tires. If you utilize winter tires, remember to exchange them out with all-weather tires. Also, be mindful of the fact that the heat can cause the air in your tire to expand, which can cause a leak. Always make sure to check your tire pressure, especially before heading out on a road trip.
